From the Trail

I work a full-time job that matters. I'm finishing a master's. I'm raising a six and a three year old on ten acres. My weeks are full, so the thing I'm most grateful I built at Seed & Society is a business that keeps running when life pulls me in three directions at once. This week it pulled hard.

A few days ago I was packed for Utah, a women's A.I. retreat full of people I'd been wanting to meet in person for a long time. Then my husband and my son got sick, the real kind, fevers and a cough you feel across the room. I unpacked the bag. That wasn't a hard choice. My family is my priority, and I don't feel an ounce less ambitious for saying so out loud. I missed a good room, and I'm at peace with it.

Instead, we made it a roadtrip and drove to Philadelphia, and I'm writing you from here. I love a great roadtrip, even while nursing my boys. My husband is filming his cypher while we're in town, and I get real time with my son. My daughter is at summer camp during the day and with her mom-mom and pop-pop on the farm in between. That's the village, and I don't take it for granted: camp, grandparents, a husband I get to show up for, all of us covering each other so nobody's stretched past what they can hold.

There's a member of my village that isn't human. It's the business itself.

Through the sick week and this trip, my A.I. employees keep Seed & Society moving. The trade-offs I make are usually about my own time and attention, and a lot less often about lost income or dropped work, because the business keeps going whether or not I'm hovering over it.

And it grew while I was away. This week I'm launching a second newsletter, drafted on autopilot. It's the Podcast Companion, the deeper cut of the show: every week it turns the new episodes into a simple breakdown, the big idea, the part worth replaying, and a couple of steps you can build. My Newsletter and Email A.I. employee writes the first draft on its own, because I gave it a fixed formula for what to pull from each episode. A whole second newsletter, without a whole second job. It lands every Friday, and you can sign up for it right here.

That's what I mean when I say more options is the real wealth. I still make trade-offs, I gave up Utah this week, but the business keeps moving while I'm gone, so choosing my people stays the easy part. More money is good. Options are the prize.

That option is built, not wished for. And this week, the biggest A.I. lab in the world quietly proved the model behind it.

The Main Thing

The biggest A.I. lab just started calling them what I call them

This week Anthropic, the company behind Claude, shipped something called Claude Tag. You can now drop Claude into your team's workspace and tag it in like a coworker. @Claude, pull these numbers. @Claude, draft this. It remembers what's happened in the channel, plans the work, and goes and does it on its own, sometimes over hours or days, then reports back. In Anthropic's own words, tagging Claude in is now "one of the main ways we get things done."

Read that again. The biggest names in A.I. just stopped calling these things tools.

They're calling them teammates. Employees. The same word I've been using with you for months.

So why am I pointing this out? Because it's the clearest signal yet of where this is headed, and it changes what's worth practicing right now.

The shift is from prompting to delegating. A prompt is something you babysit: you type, you wait, you copy the answer out, you do the whole thing again tomorrow. Delegation is when you've handed a whole job to a worker that already has your context, and it gets done without you sitting on top of it. Claude Tag is just delegation made obvious, with an @ in front of it.

Let me be honest about how you get there, because it isn't a switch you flip. I haven't even tried Claude Tag yet. Every employee I run, my blog agent, my booking agent, the one that drafts that Companion, I prompted, corrected, and refined until it did the job the way I needed. You give it your context, you watch what it gets wrong, you tell it, and you keep going until the prompting falls away and the delegating takes over.

The prompting is how you train the employee. The delegating is what you're training it toward.

Claude Tag is rolling out to teams first, so you may not have the @Claude button yet. That's fine. The behavior is the part that matters, and you can practice it today in tools you already pay for.

A study out this week

87% of small business owners now use A.I. Only 1 in 5 feel confident with it. And the confident ones are as likely to be growing their revenue.

That confidence is built one way: you pick a single job and stay with it, prompt by prompt, until it runs without you. So pick one task you re-explain to A.I. every single week, and start turning it into a standing job. If you want A.I. itself to tell you which job to hand off first, the free A.I. Employee Report does exactly that.

🛠️ One Thing To Do Today: audition before you hire

You don't need Claude Tag or any new tool for this. Pick one task you already do well and know cold, your client recap, your follow-up email, your weekly post. Today, do it with A.I. sitting next to you instead of handing it over. Ask it to take a first pass, then line its version up against how you'd have done it, and tell it the things it missed.

This is just one rep. It teaches you which work is ready to become a standing job and which still needs your hands. Knowing when to bring A.I. in is the muscle, and you build it one task at a time. Start with this one.

The free A.I. Employee Report just got a full rebuild: new questions, deeper analysis. New here? Take it. Taken it before? Retake it for a sharper read on which employee to build first.
